Title

Wireless Rechargeable Sensor Network

Abstract

"In this speech, I would like to talk about some state-of-the-art energy-harvesting technologies, including those using far field RF, near field RF, Solar power, piezoelectricity, vibration, air flow, body heat, external heat, and terrestrial heat. I then introduce the concept of combining the far field RF energy harvesting technology and the wireless sensor network (WSN) to construct the wireless rechargeable sensor network (WRSN). Sensor nodes of a WRSN can harvest energy from wireless chargers to refill their power supplies so that the WRSN can operate sustainably. Our study considers wireless chargers equipped with directional antennas, and assumes they can be deployed on grid points at a fixed height. The study proposes two greedy heuristic algorithms solving the following critical problem: how to deploy as few as possible chargers to make the WRSN sustainable." Prof. Jiang.

Prof Jiang is currently a visiting professor in WCC. His primary research area is wireless sensor network. You can visit his website for more info.
